Lionel Messi was moving at half speed Wednesday. But Barcelona only needed Messi to put in about a half hour of effort to eliminate Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals of theChampions League.
Messi was on the bench for 61 minutes, then replaced Cesc Fabregas and helped set up Pedro Rodriguez for a goal in the 72nd minute, as Barcelona tied PSG, 1-1. The teams tied, 2-2, in the first leg, Barcelona advancing on away goals.
Messi started the scoring sequence, running through the middle of the field and finding David Villa, who laid off for Pedro to finish. Javier Pastore scored the opening goal in the 50th minute.
